"Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!" -Ebert & Roeper
Director Spike Jonze delivers a stunningly original comedy that seamlessly blends fictional characters and situations with the lives of real people: obsessive orchid hunter John Laroche (Cooper), New Yorker journalist Susan Orlean (Streep), Hollywood screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Cage), and his twin brother Donald (also Cage). As Charlie struggles to adapt Orlean's best-selling book The Orchid Thief, he writes himself into his own movie. The various stories crash into one another exploding into a wildly imaginative film. Adaptation, the year's most talked about movie, is at once a hilarious drama and a moving comedy.
Nicolas Cage is Charlie Kaufman, a confused L.A. screenwriter overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy, sexual frustration, self-loathing-and by the screenwriting ambitions of his freeloading twin brother Donald. While struggling to adapt, Kaufman's life spins from pathetic to bizarre.

BRILLIANT!!!! - 4.75 out of 5 (6/30/2003)
This film is definately one of the best films (along with the Hours) to come along in years. It is positively genius. Perfect is the only word that can describe this movie. As for the DVD, I found it perfectly acceptable, the only other thing I would have liked would be a commentary with Jonze and Kaufman. The packaging is quite elegant and simple and the transfer is positively gorgeous. I'm afraid I must contradict the previous review on the menus, though. They are, very subtly, animated. If yo

"Superbit" or not, the film itself rules! - 4.25 out of 5 (5/28/2003)
Crisp video, acceptable digital audio considering this is not a sci-fi movie. I suppose that "Superbit" thing doesn't allow one side of a DVD disc to include much more features, not even an animated menu... but... by the time you watch this movie, the script, the characters, you won't care all of the above. I've read many reviews of people that says that this movie is nonsense and bad. All I can say is that this movie is not made for all that people that wrote those reviews and are fans of the r
